The Grand Stade de Marrakech, inaugurated in January 2011, will serve as one of the key venues of this year’s tournament. Located on the northern outskirts of Marrakesh, the stadium seats 41,245 spectators and beautifully blends modern design with Moroccan tradition. Designed by Moroccan architect Sâd Benkirane in collaboration with Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti, the stadium’s architecture draws inspiration from Morocco’s desert landscapes and historic kasbahs, featuring sand-colored walls, towers and minaret-like structures.
Beyond hosting home matches for Kawkab Marrakech, the venue has welcomed major international events, including the FIFA Club World Cup finals in 2013 and 2014, as well as the African Athletics Championships in the same year.
For AFCON 2025, the Grand Stade de Marrakech has undergone a major transformation. One of the most significant upgrades was the removal of the athletics track, which previously created distance between fans and the pitch. The field was lowered by six meters, and new stands were built closer to the action, enhancing both the atmosphere and the viewing experience for supporters. These renovations have turned the stadium into a true football arena, perfectly suited for a tournament of this scale.
