Opened in 1983, Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah is Morocco’s largest stadium, boasting a capacity of 65,000 seats. It serves as the home ground of AS FAR and has hosted some of Africa’s biggest sporting events, including AFCON 1988, the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup and the African Games.

The stadium is part of the vast Complexe Sportif Moulay Abdellah, which also includes the Stade Olympique de Rabat (athletics stadium), a sports arena, training fields, an indoor hall and a swimming complex.

Over the decades, the stadium has undergone several renovations to meet international standards, including:

In addition to hosting the opening match, the stadium will also stage a Round of 16 tie, a quarter-final, a semi-final and the final of the tournament.

Accessibility

Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah is easily accessible for both Rabat residents and visitors traveling from other parts of Morocco. Whether you arrive by train, tram, taxi, bus or car, there are several convenient ways to reach the venue.

Train

Rabat has two main train stations:

  • Rabat-Ville (city center)
  • Rabat-Agdal (southern district)

Of the two, Rabat-Agdal is the most practical for stadium visitors. From there, the trip to the venue takes around 10 minutes by taxi, bus or car.

Tram

Rabat’s modern tram network connects large parts of the city and its twin city Salé. Although the stadium itself doesn’t have a direct tram stop, the nearest stations, Gare Rabat-Agdal and Gare Rabat-Ville, provide easy access, with connections available via taxi or bus.

Bus

The stadium is well served by public buses, including Line L38, which stops within walking distance of the sports complex. Buses are affordable, though they can be crowded during match days.

Taxi

Taxis are a popular and inexpensive way to reach the stadium. A ride from downtown Rabat or from Rabat-Ville or Rabat-Agdal stations typically costs between 7 and 10 Moroccan dirhams (MAD), depending on distance and time of day.

Petit taxis operate within the city.
Grand taxis are available for longer routes.

Car

The stadium is conveniently located near major roads such as the N1 national route and can easily be reached from central Rabat or via the Casablanca highway. There is ample parking around the venue, with space for approximately 5,000 vehicles.
