More about this host city > - Capacity: 22,000
- Build: 1923
- Home team: FUS Rabat
The original Stade Moulay El Hassan, built in 1923, long served as the home ground of FUS Rabat. It underwent a full renovation in 2012, but in 2024 the decision was made to demolish and rebuild the venue entirely, creating a state-of-the-art modern stadium designed for the future. The new facility offers 22,000 fully covered seats and meets the highest international standards.
The project was developed with a strong focus on sustainability and local identity. Local materials such as glazed terracotta were prominently used and the architectural design emphasizes harmony with Rabat’s urban environment. In addition to the stadium itself, the surrounding complex includes commercial spaces, making it an integral part of daily life in the Moroccan capital.

Accessibility
The Stade Moulay El Hassan is located in El Youssoufia, in the southeastern part of Rabat, close to the popular Souissi district. Although the stadium does not have a direct tram or metro stop, Rabat’s well-developed infrastructure ensures easy access by train, tram, bus, taxi or car.
Train
Rabat is connected by a modern rail network. A new station at Hay Riad (part of the Rabat–Salé core network) will open in time for AFCON 2025. This intermodal hub links directly to the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex, which is located near the Stade Moulay El Hassan.
Tram
While the stadium itself does not have a dedicated tram stop, Rabat’s efficient tram system provides excellent connections across the city. The network’s two main lines link the city center, Agdal, and Salé, with stops such as Rabat-Ville and Rabat-Agdal located within easy reach of the stadium. From there, visitors can take a short bus or taxi ride to reach El Youssoufia.
Bus
Buses are another convenient option for reaching the venue. Line L38 stops close to the stadium and a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network is being developed to improve connectivity to the area. Bus tickets are inexpensive and can be purchased directly on board.
Taxi
Petit taxis are ideal for short distances within the city, while grand taxis are available for longer trips. Both provide quick and flexible ways to get to and from the stadium.
Car
Rabat’s road infrastructure has been significantly expanded and modernized, with new routes, diversions, and improved traffic flow around the El Youssoufia district. Parking areas near the stadium are being upgraded to accommodate the expected influx of visitors during AFCON 2025.
