AFCON 2025 Qualification Draw
The draw for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers took place on Thursday, 4 July 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa. It began at 14:30 CET, with several African legends, CAF officials, and representatives of the participating nations in attendance. Once the draw was completed, the fixturesfor September, October, and November 2025 were confirmed.
Qualification Draw Procedure
The draw began with Pot 4 and ended with Pot 1. The first team drawn from Pot 4 was placed into the first available group in alphabetical order. The position within the group depended on the pot: for example, a team from Pot 4 automatically occupied position 4 in their group.
Group Stage Overview
Each team plays the other nations in their group twice, once at home and once away. The top two teams in each group qualify for AFCON 2025.
However, there is an exception in Group B, which includes Morocco. As hosts, Morocco are automatically qualified but were still required to participate in the qualifiers. This means that only one additional team from Morocco’s group could secure a spot at AFCON 2025.
