Accessibility

Located in northern Morocco on the Strait of Gibraltar, Tangier is a dynamic port city that’s becoming increasingly popular with travelers. Thanks to the high-speed rail line, international airport and well-developed local transport network, getting to and around Tangier is easy and convenient.

Flying to Tangier

Tangier is served by Ibn Batutta International Airport, located about 15 kilometers from the city center. From the Netherlands, you can fly directly to Tangier from Amsterdam Schiphol with airlines such as Air Arabia Maroc and Royal Air Maroc. Depending on the season, there are also direct flights from Eindhoven and Rotterdam operated by Ryanair or Transavia.

Travelers from Belgium can fly from Brussels (Zaventem or Charleroi), with regular connections offered by TUI Fly, Brussels Airlines, and Ryanair. In summer, seasonal flights also operate from Liège.

From Germany, Tangier is equally accessible, with direct flights from Cologne-Bonn and Düsseldorf-Weeze operated several times a week by Air Arabia Maroc and Ryanair. Average flight times from Western Europe range between 3.5 and 4 hours.

Once you land, reaching the city is simple: a taxi ride to the center takes about 20–30 minutes, while buses offer a cheaper, though less frequent, alternative.

Train to Tangier

Tangier is one of Morocco’s best-connected cities, thanks to the Al Boraq high-speed train line. This modern rail service links Tangier with Kenitra, Rabat, and Casablanca, allowing you to travel across the country at speeds of up to 320 km/h. The journey takes just 2 hours and 10 minutes to Casablanca, 1 hour and 20 minutes to Rabat, and under an hour to Kenitra.

For destinations further inland, such as Fès or Marrakesh, you can transfer to regional trains. The trip to Fès takes around 5 hours and to Marrakesh approximately 7 hours.

Future rail expansions are underway, including plans for a high-speed extension to Marrakesh and a regional connection between Tangier and Tétouan, which will make travel in northern Morocco even more convenient.
