Egypt football shirts
The Egyptian football team played its first international match in 1920 and has since worn a predominantly red home shirt as a tribute to the national flag. The team temporarily wore a green home shirt in 1934, which is a color that now often appears in the away kit or as a third color. The home kit typically consists of a red shirt, black shorts and black or red socks. Until the mid-1970s, the Egyptian Football Association managed the production of the kits themselves, with Adidas becoming the first kit sponsor in 1976. Since then Adidas and Puma have alternated as sponsors, although Umbro and Venecia were als briefly involved in the design and production. More recent kits often feature references to Egyptian culture, history and architecture. Above the Egyptian Football Association’s logo, there are seven stars representing the Africa Cup of Nations victories in 1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
