Head Coach Morocco

Walid Regragui, a 49-year-old former Moroccan international, has been in charge since 2022. Before taking over the national team, he enjoyed success as a club coach, leading FUS Rabat, Wydad Casablanca and Qatari side Al-Duhail.
Under Regragui, Morocco enjoyed a historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, becoming the first African nation to ever reach the semi-finals. His ability to quickly build a united, disciplined and competitive squad earned widespread acclaim. Now he aims to replicate that success on the continental stage.
Star Player Morocco

Brahim Díaz has quickly become one of the standout names in Morocco’s squad. Currently at Real Madrid, he developed under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before making his mark during a successful loan spell at AC Milan. Returning to Spain in 2023, he has established himself as a creative and versatile attacker.
Since switching allegiance from Spain to Morocco, Díaz has adapted seamlessly to the Atlas Lions. He impressed from his debut against Angola, combining flair with decisive end product. During the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, he emerged as one of Morocco’s most prolific scorers, netting seven times to underline his importance. His creativity, eye for goal, and ability to unlock defenses make him the centerpiece of Morocco’s attack.
Morocco AFCON History
Morocco have been a constant presence at the Africa Cup, with a proud yet at times inconsistent record. Their greatest triumph came in 1976, when they lifted the trophy in Ethiopia (their only title to date). They returned to the final in 2004, narrowly losing to hosts Tunisia.
Since then, the Atlas Lions have often reached the knockout stages but fallen short of the ultimate prize. Still, their regular qualification and ability to compete at the highest level underline their status as one of Africa’s footballing giants.
In recent editions, Morocco have proven themselves a force once again. They reached the quarter-finals in both 2021 and 2023, while their World Cup exploits in Qatar further highlighted their rise. With a talented generation of players and home advantage, expectations for AFCON 2025 could not be higher.
Road to AFCON 2025
Though already qualified as hosts, Morocco took part in Group B of the qualifiers and dominated from start to finish. They finished with maximum points (18) and an astonishing +24 goal difference. Among their highlights was a 7–0 demolition of Lesotho and back-to-back emphatic wins against the Central African Republic. It was a campaign that showcased their depth, attacking firepower, and defensive solidity.
