Head Coach Comoros

Since taking charge in 2023, Italian-French manager Stefano Cusin has built a disciplined and well-drilled side. His focus is on defensive solidity and sharp counter-attacks, with the team working as a compact unit. The famous victory over Tunisia perfectly showcased this approach: organized, resilient, and opportunistic.
Star Player Comoros

Myziane Maolida is the standout figure for Comoros. A product of Olympique Lyon’s academy, he went on to play for OGC Nice and Hertha BSC before rediscovering his form on loan at Hibernian in early 2024, where he scored 11 goals and was named Premiership Player of the Month in March. A move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Kholood followed in August 2024, where he immediately impressed with 15 league goals in his debut season.
For Comoros, Maolida made a dream debut for the Comoros in November 2023. He scored against the Central African Republic, before netting the winner against Ghana just days later in a World Cup qualifier. Since then, he has become the team’s attacking leader, renowned for his direct dribbling, powerful shooting, and composure in decisive moments. His impact was crucial in the team’s unbeaten run to AFCON 2025.
Comoros AFCON History
Comoros made their Africa Cup of Nations debut in 2021, a fairytale run that captured the imagination of the entire continent. In the group stage they stunned Ghana with a famous 3–2 victory, a result that propelled them into the round of 16. There, against hosts Cameroon, a COVID-19 outbreak forced outfield player Chaker Alhadhur to step in as goalkeeper. Despite a narrow 2–1 defeat, Comoros won widespread admiration for their courage, resilience, and fighting spirit. That unforgettable debut established them as dangerous outsiders and with their second AFCON appearance in 2025, the Coelacanths are determined to push beyond the achievements of their historic introduction.
Road to AFCON 2025
The highlight came with a stunning 0–1 away win over Tunisia, cementing their reputation as fearless challengers. With 12 points and a goal difference of +3, Comoros qualified as group winners. Which is an achievement that reflects both their progress and their growing ambitions on the continental stage.
